KIMBERLEY skatepark & mountain Bike Skills ParK
The City of Kimberley in partnership with the Kimberley Youth Skatepark Society opened the Kimberley Skatepark and the Mountain Bike Skills Park in October 2007.
These great recreation facilities are open for skateboarding, mountain biking, BMXing and rollerblading. The outdoor park area showcases a wide variety of ramps, verts, bowls and rails for use, whether you’re a pro showing off your skills, or just a beginner!
The Kimberley Skatepark and the Mountain Bike Skills Park are located on a parcel of land just off the trailhead of the Lions Trail System at the corner of Marsden and Rotary Drive. The seating and viewing areas established around the skateboard and bike parks are also used as a community meeting place for users of the trail system. The coalescing of these very different community parks is a proactive step towards bringing different types of people together, creating interaction and learning possibilities. Locating these parks beside each other means that skaters and bikers can go to the park with their families.
The Skatepark is free of charge and open to the public. The hours are 7:00 am to 10:00pm. Both parks are in a central and accessible location relative to the downtown core. There is ample parking for both the skaters and the trail users. The viewing area established provides safe, secure, wheelchair accessible, monitoring and showcasing of this dynamic sport.
