schools

Kimberley schools provide neighbourhood and community centres of learning, recreation and socialization. School planning for current and future educational needs requires a long-term perspective to accommodate school enrolment that will fluctuate over time and to respond to demographic changes, education directions and societal factors.

Kimberley’s public school system consists of three primary schools: Lindsay Park School – kindergarten to grade 3, Maysville School – Kindergarten to grade 3, McKim Middle School – grade 4 to grade 7; and one secondary school: Selkirk High School – grade 8 to grade 12.

Lindsay Park School appeared in “Today’s Parent” magazine as an Extraordinary School after the school was awarded the 2005 Canadian Environmental Award for its environmental programming. Lindsay Park School is also recognized as a Green School , Emerald Award winner as a school that has completed 500 environmental projects. What began with a small group of students is now a way of life at the school.

Unique to Kimberley is the Rocky Mountain Sport School offering world class sports training opportunities for students in grades 6-12. Classes are arranged to allow for optimum training in hockey, tennis, horse riding, skiing and snowboarding.
